Overview: The Montgomerie Dubai, set within the lush Emirates Hills estate, is a luxury championship course designed by Colin Montgomerie in association with Desmond Muirhead. Opened in 2002, the course is a unique "links-land" hybrid, blending the rolling, undulating terrain of a traditional links course with the manicured gardens and extensive water features of a high-end Dubai resort. Spanning over 200 acres with 14 man-made lakes, the layout is famous for its grand scale, strategic complexity, and impeccably maintained championship-standard fairways.
History: The development of The Montgomerie was a major milestone in Dubai's luxury real estate and sporting infrastructure, and the course was designed to be its central crown jewel. Montgomerie and Muirhead spent years meticulously shaping the terrain to create a layout that felt both grand and sustainable, utilizing the natural ridges and deep ravines to create a technical challenge that rewards bold, strategic ball striking. Since its opening, it has quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional maintenance and its role as a premier sanctuary of modern desert golf, offering a refined and high-quality resort experience within a peaceful desert setting.
Did You Know? The course is home to one of the most eccentric greens in the world on the par-3 13th hole, which is shaped exactly like the map of the United Arab Emirates. Golfers also face the infamous "Snake Hole" on the par-5 4th, which features a saddleback fairway and bunkers that resemble the eyes of a serpent, showcasing the whimsical but punishing design philosophy of Desmond Muirhead.
