Overview: The Medalist is a private Hobe Sound course designed by Greg Norman and Pete Dye on sandy South Florida ground. The layout uses firm corridors, native vegetation and strategic shaping to create a course with a more natural, inland character than the region’s flat resort layouts.
History: The course opened in 1995 and quickly became one of the best-known private designs in the Hobe Sound area. Norman’s playing perspective and Dye’s architectural vocabulary are both visible in the course’s emphasis on angles, hazards and varied green approaches.
Did You Know? The Medalist is often discussed alongside the other high-profile private courses around Hobe Sound, but it remains its own routing and club. Its back-tee setup reaches 7,363 yards at par 72, giving the course a substantial championship scale.
