Overview: The Masters Course at Manila Southwoods is an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature layout in Carmona, Cavite. The course uses a relatively flat former cane-field site but adds strategic interest through lakes, creeks, mounds, bunkers and Nicklaus's angled green complexes. It is a par-72 course commonly listed at 7,225 yards from the back tees, with water influencing many of the holes.
History: Manila Southwoods opened the Masters Course for play in 1993 as one of two Nicklaus-designed courses within a large residential and club development. The Masters and Legends courses were built on about 140 hectares of former cane fields, with a water-capture and conservation system incorporated into the wider property. The club later became a regular venue for Philippine professional tournaments.
Did You Know? The official club history highlights the island green at the 9th and the view from the clubhouse toward the Masters 18th green. It also reports that water is present on 15 of the 18 holes, an unusually strong influence on a course that otherwise occupies mostly flat ground.
