Overview: Located in Ermelo in the Netherlands, The Links Valley is an innovative 9-hole reversible course designed by Frank Pont. Set on a rolling, sandy heathland site, the layout features dramatic elevation changes of up to 20 meters, wide fairways framed by native heather, and expansive, heavily contoured greens. The firm, fast fescue turf requires players to utilize creative ground-game shots, bump-and-runs, and careful trajectory control to navigate the undulating sandy slopes.
History: Opened in 2018, The Links Valley is the first fully reversible golf course in Europe. Pont drew inspiration from Tom Doak's work and historic Scottish links to create a layout that can be played in two completely opposite directions (the North Course and the South Course). This unique architectural achievement maximizes the use of a compact, 25-hectare site while providing two distinct strategic challenges.
Did You Know? Because the course is fully reversible, the direction of play alternates daily. A bunker that guards the front of a green on the North routing becomes a fairway hazard off the tee when played in the opposite direction on the South routing, ensuring a completely different experience depending on the day of the week.
