Overview: In Henderson's Green Valley area, The Legacy Golf Club offers 18 public holes, designed by Arthur Hills with a desert setting and a links-influenced sense of movement. The par-72 course reaches about 7,233 yards from the back tees and uses multi-tiered fairways, large contoured greens, native areas and strategically placed hazards to create a demanding but varied round. Its urban location is close to the Strip, yet the routing has enough scale to feel separate from the city.
History: Construction began in 1988 and the course opened in late 1989. Arthur Hills and Keith Foster were selected as the design team, with Foster leading much of the west-coast design work. The Legacy soon became a prominent daily-fee facility, hosting U.S. Open qualifying for 15 years and an AJGA tournament that included a young Tiger Woods as runner-up in 1991.
Did You Know? The tenth hole has tee boxes shaped like the four suits of playing cards: hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds. It is an unmistakably Las Vegas detail, but the course's tougher stretch is the Devil's Triangle, the three-hole sequence of 11, 12 and 13.
