Overview: The Lake/Palm routing is an 18-hole combination within The Lakes Country Club’s 27-hole private facility in Palm Desert. Ted Robinson’s design is presented by the club as an oasis of lakes, waterfalls, mature shade trees, palms and Scottish-style bunkering. The exact Lake/Palm scorecard available through Hole19 lists a par-72 layout measuring 5,971 yards from the black tees. It is a residential club course rather than a daily-fee resort round, so access is controlled by membership, invitation and club rules.
History: The Lakes grew from developer Bill Bone’s early-1980s plan for an all-condominium community organized around golf and water. The club’s history records construction beginning in 1982 with 18 holes, followed by the community taking control of its golf course and other assets in 1986. A further nine holes were commissioned from Ted Robinson in 1987, creating the three-nine-hole system that exists today. The Lake/Palm label is therefore a routing within a larger facility, not a separate club or a stand-alone 18-hole build.
Did You Know? The Lakes can offer three different 18-hole combinations because its golf course is made up of three nines. The Lake/Palm card is a useful reminder that the same club can have materially different yardages depending on the selected routing. The club also maintains an 18-hole putting course, alongside its driving range, chipping areas and practice bunkers.
