Overview: The Kittansett Club is a private coastal course at the end of Butler Point in Marion, extending into Buzzards Bay. Its open seaside ground, stone mounds, wind and mixture of shore and inland holes create a distinctive strategic test that changes with the weather.
History: The club was formed in the early 1920s and play began in 1923. Frederic C. Hood directed the original construction after William Flynn and other experts were consulted, while later restoration work by Gil Hanse used recovered Flynn drawings to bring the course closer to its early character.
Did You Know? Kittansett hosted the 1953 Walker Cup, when the United States defeated Great Britain and Ireland 9 to 3.
