Overview: The Kingsley Club is a private Mike DeVries course near Traverse City, built on rolling sandy terrain with natural fescue and a links-inspired character. The layout places a premium on ground movement, elevated greens and creative angles rather than a heavily landscaped resort look.
History: DeVries built the course in 2001 as a modern interpretation of links and heathland golf in northern Michigan. Its design philosophy keeps the land visible and asks players to use the contours, giving the course a distinctive identity among the state's newer private clubs.
Did You Know? Kingsley is listed at 6,911 yards and par 71 from the back tees. Its fescue playing surfaces are intentionally reminiscent of Scotland and Ireland, which is unusual for a private course in the Great Lakes region.
