Overview: The Golf Club at Black Rock sits above Lake Coeur d’Alene, where Jim Engh’s design uses exposed rock, native grasses, and changes in elevation to create a course with a strong sense of place. The routing alternates between open views and more enclosed corridors, with shaped bunkers and irregular green sites providing much of the strategy.
History: The course opened in 2003 as a Jim Engh design. Its setting in the hills above Lake Coeur d’Alene gives the layout a distinct north Idaho identity, while later course descriptions continue to emphasize the rock formations and native landscape.
Did You Know? Black Rock’s name is reflected in the exposed dark rock formations that appear around the property and help define several of its visual backdrops.
