Overview: The Club at Viniterra is a Rees Jones championship course in New Kent, Virginia, positioned between Richmond and Williamsburg beside New Kent Winery. The 18-hole layout can stretch to 7,725 yards at par 72, but the wide range of tee positions allows the same routing to play at different scales. Frequent elevation changes, open pastoral ground, grass, sand and water hazards give the course a varied rhythm. The main strategic question is often not whether a player can reach a target, but which side of a landing area leaves the clearest angle into a green shaped by the surrounding contours.
History: The course opened in 2009 as the centerpiece of the Viniterra residential and winery community. Rees Jones designed the routing around a varied natural site, and the club's Virginia State Golf Association directory identifies the 2009 opening and the par-72 Jones design. The course has continued to operate with public tee times alongside its club identity, making it one of the more accessible Jones layouts in the Richmond region. Its history is therefore tied both to the development around it and to the decision to retain a championship-scale course within that setting.
Did You Know? Viniterra's maximum published length is 7,725 yards, but the course also offers a routing of about 5,200 yards. That is a difference of more than 2,500 yards across the tee markers, an unusually broad range that changes the angles and recovery choices without requiring a different set of holes.
