Overview: The Club at Sugarloaf is the East Course at the Santa Rosa facility formerly listed as Oakmont Golf Club. Ted Robinson Sr. designed the par-63 routing, which opened in 1973 and stretches about 4,293 yards through a wooded Sonoma Valley setting. Its shorter card relies on angles, placement and well-shaped targets.
History: The property now presents two named courses, Valley of the Moon and Sugarloaf. The East routing is associated with Ted Robinson Sr. and a 1973 opening, while the West routing dates to 1964. The current names are important because the older Oakmont labels can otherwise be confused with unrelated clubs.
Did You Know? Sugarloaf and Valley of the Moon share one address but not one scorecard. Sugarloaf is the par-63 East Course, a compact routing whose identity is defined by its shorter holes and Robinson’s use of the available Sonoma ground.
