Overview: The Club at Nevillewood is a private Jack Nicklaus Signature course in the hills south of Pittsburgh. The 18-hole par 72 layout uses wooded valleys, broad elevation changes, and framed landing areas to create a strategic Western Pennsylvania parkland test. The United States Golf Association record lists 7,240 yards from the longest tee. Nicklaus's routing gives the property a clear rhythm, moving between open climbing holes, tree-lined corridors and green complexes where the approach angle matters as much as distance.
History: Nevillewood opened in 1992 as a Jack Nicklaus Signature design. The official club history describes the course as a fully realized Nicklaus project, with Nicklaus personally involved in the design of the routing, greens, tees, fairways and bunkers. That authorship is central to the course's identity: the layout was shaped to use the existing hills and valleys while maintaining the scale and strategic options associated with a modern Nicklaus course.
Did You Know? Nevillewood's ninth hole was selected for Bear's Best, the collection of Jack Nicklaus's favorite holes from his own designs. The recognition is course-specific rather than a generic architectural label, and it helps explain why the outward nine has such a strong visual and strategic midpoint. The club's official history also records continuing environmental work, including efforts to manage the land and water resources around the course.
