The Club at Iron Bridge

Overview: The Club at Iron Bridge is an 18-hole Arthur Hills design in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, later refined by Tom Lehman. The current course information lists a par-72 layout at 6,997 yards, set beside the Roaring Fork Valley with views toward Mount Sopris. Its alpine character comes from the combination of broad valley floor, rising mountain slopes and substantial changes in elevation. The routing leaves room for different styles of play, but the changing lies and the scale of the surrounding landscape make distance control especially important. Fairways and greens sit within a golf community, yet the course remains strongly connected to the valley setting rather than reading as a flat residential layout. The result is a visually open mountain round with enough elevation and directional change to keep the strategy moving.

History: Ironbridge opened for play in 2003 as the central sporting element of a 533-acre golf community. Arthur Hills created the original layout, and Tom Lehman later refined the course. The property’s development history is closely tied to the Roaring Fork Valley, where the course was positioned as an alternative to the more concentrated resort golf around Aspen and Vail. Its public-facing operation has allowed the course to serve both local players and travelling golfers while retaining the scale and maintenance standards expected of a mountain destination. The course continues to use its valley location as its defining architectural asset, with the views and elevation changes doing much of the work that a more manufactured resort landscape would normally provide.

Did You Know? Ironbridge rises and falls through roughly 495 feet of elevation. That is enough to change club selection and the shape of a round without requiring the course to rely on narrow corridors or artificial visual tricks.
