Overview: The Claw at USF was a public Tampa course with a par-71 layout using lakes, ponds, cypress and oak groves. Its historical identity remains relevant to the University of South Florida golf story, but it is not currently a normal public tee-time option.
History: USF announced that public golf operations would close effective September 5, 2023. The university said the course would no longer be the official home of its men’s and women’s teams, although the golf team complex would continue to support varsity practice.
Did You Know? The Claw was a university-linked course rather than an isolated resort layout. Its combination of campus use, public play and natural water corridors made it distinctive in the Tampa area.
