Overview: The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe is a private Robert Trent Jones II course in the coastal foothills of San Diego County. The 18-hole routing follows rolling ground, dry canyons, streams and ridge views, using elevation and approach angles to define the round. The club’s current description gives the course a par of 71 and an estimated 7,000 yards from the tips. Fairways can offer room for a conservative line, but the changing terrain and bold green approaches reward players who plan the next shot before committing to the current one.
History: Robert Trent Jones II’s portfolio records The Bridges as a 1999 project, and the club celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024. The course was developed as the centerpiece of the Rancho Santa Fe community and remains closely tied to the surrounding coastal-hill landscape. Its architectural identity comes from routing across deep canyons and streams rather than imposing a flat sequence of holes on the site. The club’s five tee sets preserve that design variety for different playing levels.
Did You Know? The signature bridge on the tenth hole is 285 feet long and spans a canyon below the course. It is visible from the clubhouse and gives the property its name, but it also reflects the central design idea: the course is built around the site’s ravines, crossings and changes in elevation. The Bridges also hosted the Battle at The Bridges matches in 2003, 2004 and 2005, bringing Tiger Woods, John Daly, Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson to the Rancho Santa Fe layout.
