Overview: The Bog is an 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature course in Saukville, north of Milwaukee, set across 297 acres of woods, wetlands, rolling ground and wildlife habitat. The layout plays to par 72 and 7,221 yards from the longest markers, with broad fairways alternating with tighter approaches and greens protected by 118 bunkers. Its character comes from the contrast between open land and the Cedarburg Bog environment, where water, native vegetation and changing ground shape the route.
History: The course was founded in 1995 as a public course designed to bring Palmer's strategic style to southeastern Wisconsin. Palmer's team routed the holes around the existing wetland landscape rather than treating it as a separate backdrop. The result is a course with several different visual zones: open grassy stretches, wooded corridors, wet ground and rolling approach areas. The facility later developed a practice centre and clubhouse, but the central idea remains a full-length public course connected to its surrounding ecology.
Did You Know? The name is a direct reference to the Cedarburg Bog, a large peatland ecosystem beside the property. The bog setting is not just a naming device: it helps explain the course's mix of wetland edges, wildlife habitat and holes that ask golfers to choose carefully between safer ground and more ambitious lines.
