Overview: Located in Sutri, north of Rome, the Championship Course at Terre dei Consoli Golf Club is an expansive parkland layout set in a volcanic valley. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course features wide, rolling fairways bordered by native grasses, large white-sand bunkers, and significant water hazards. The layout is designed to challenge long hitters while remaining playable for amateur golfers from forward tee boxes.
History: Opened in 2011, the Championship Course was built to host international professional tournaments and promote golf tourism in the Lazio region. Robert Trent Jones Jr. spent months routing the holes through the natural valley, incorporating modern earthworks to create dramatic elevation changes and lakes. The club also features an adjacent nine-hole family course to foster youth development.
Did You Know? The signature 9th hole is a par three featuring a completely isolated island green, resembling the famous 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass, requiring a precise tee shot over water to hold the target.
