Overview: Located in Espoo, just minutes from central Helsinki, Tapiola Golf is a modern 18-hole links-style course designed by Tim Nugent. Built on a massive, restored landfill site, the layout features open, highly contoured fairways, expansive waste bunkers, and large, undulating green complexes. The course is entirely treeless and highly exposed to coastal winds from the Gulf of Finland, requiring players to utilize creative ground-game shots and precise trajectory control.
History: Opened in 2013, Tapiola Golf represents a monumental environmental restoration project, transforming a former municipal landfill into a premier, ecologically sustainable golf facility. Nugent sculpted massive artificial dunes to cap the site, creating an authentic links aesthetic in an urban setting. The course has gained national acclaim for its firm, fast fescue turf and highly strategic design.
Did You Know? The facility features one of the most advanced indoor and outdoor training centers in Finland, known as TAGi, allowing golfers to practice year-round despite the harsh Finnish winters. The course’s elevated dunes offer panoramic views of the modern Espoo skyline.
