Overview: At Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort in Pasir Gudang, the Plantation Course is the 18-hole routing that most clearly retains the site's agricultural past. The current resort page lists Max Wexler as designer and a 6,454-metre layout, approximately 7,058 yards, while published course material identifies it as par 72. The fairways run through former oil-palm land with surviving palms and fruit trees, and the natural undulations are paired with lakes, bunkers and flowering planting. It feels open in places, but the preserved landscape continually shapes the line of play.
History: Development of Tanjong Puteri began around 1990, with Plantation opening in 1992 before the resort added the Village and Straits courses. A substantial upgrading project was carried out in 2018, including new Bermuda Tifdwarf greens, bunker work and other course improvements. That work was an upgrade to the established routing, not a new course opening. The resort now presents Plantation separately from the coastal Straits course and the rest of its multi-course complex.
Did You Know? Several holes preserve fruit trees from the former plantation, including durian, mango, jackfruit and coconut palms, according to a recent golf-travel report. That detail gives the course a more specific sense of place than a generic tropical description. The name is also literal: Plantation is the resort's palm-oriented course, while the companion Straits routing turns toward mangroves, brackish ponds and sea influence. The contrast is the reason golfers can play two very different 18-hole experiences at one address.
