Overview: Taiwan Golf & Country Club's historic Tamsui course is an 18-hole, par-72 woodland layout in New Taipei City, stored in the directory under the Left routing. Taiwan's Tourism Administration lists the course at 6,923 yards. It lies in the foothills of Datun Mountain above the mouth of the Tamsui River, with the Taiwan Strait, Guanyin Mountain and mature woodland all influencing the setting and the way wind moves across the holes.
History: Taiwan Golf Club was founded in 1919 as Taiwan's first golf club, with the society's origins also recorded as 1918. The full 18-hole course was developed during the late 1920s, and Top100 lists the Japanese architects Shiro and Rokuro Akaboshi for the Tamsui course. The club's own history records wartime damage and later post-war restoration before the course returned to regular 18-hole operation.
Did You Know? The official course description identifies the Taiwan Strait and the Tamsui river mouth as sources of strong wind, while the century-old forest lines both sides of the fairways. The Tamsui course has also hosted the Mercuries Taiwan Masters, including the 2023 edition documented by Taiwan's professional golf association.
