Overview: The Gotemba Course at Taiheiyo Club is a hillside parkland layout located at the foot of Mount Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture. The course is routed through mature forests, featuring wide fairways, strategic water hazards, and panoramic mountain views. The layout demands precise approach play to navigate the undulating green complexes and deep bunkers.
History: Opened in 1977, the course was originally designed by Shunsuke Kato. In 2018, Rees Jones completed a major renovation, with professional golfer Hideki Matsuyama serving as a consultant. The renovation modernized the routing and updated the green sites, preparing the course to host international professional tournaments.
Did You Know? The course hosts the annual Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Taiheiyo Masters tournament. The signature 18th hole is a par five that features a scenic pond fronting the green, creating a dramatic risk-reward finish under the shadow of Mount Fuji.
