Overview: Täby Golfklubb is a parkland course north of Stockholm, with open views, mature vegetation and the broader Vallentuna landscape creating a calm but varied setting. Nils Sköld’s layout is built around the natural movement of the property, using trees and open ground to frame the holes without making the course feel repetitive. The back tees provide a substantial par-72 challenge, while the multiple tee positions allow players to choose a more comfortable route through the same landscape. Accuracy into the greens is usually more useful than chasing distance without a plan.
History: Täby Golfklubb was founded in 1968 and the course was built between 1969 and 1972 under Nils Sköld. Later planning work has considered how to retain the original parkland and seaside character while keeping the course relevant for present-day play. The 1972 date therefore records completion of the ranked 18-hole course rather than the club’s foundation.
Did You Know? The club publishes a back-tee length of 6,117 metres, almost exactly 6,690 yards. That makes Täby a substantial course on paper, even though its landscape-led design gives the round a quieter character than the number suggests.
