Overview: Kansas City's Swope Memorial occupies 18 holes in Swope Park and remains a public municipal course. Rolling parkland, tree-lined corridors and compact greens reflect the character of an early municipal course.
History: The original course opened in 1915 and was completely redesigned by A.W. Tillinghast in 1934. A 2025 restoration returned the course to play while retaining the historic routing.
Did You Know? Swope Memorial was Kansas City's first public golf course. Tillinghast's 1934 plans were prepared with assistance from Thomas Henry Riggs-Miller, although little of the original 1915 layout survives.
