Overview: Svartinge Golf Club is an 18-hole private course north of Stockholm, set among woodland, open ground and the rolling landscape around Sollentuna. Peter Nordwall’s design uses generous fairway corridors and large shaped greens to create a course that looks inviting from the tee but becomes more exacting as the holes narrow toward their targets. Pine forest frames the property, while changes in elevation and the placement of hazards make club selection important throughout the round. The atmosphere is quiet and secluded, with the land doing much of the visual work.
History: The current 18-hole course opened in 2001. Official course information identifies Peter Nordwall as the architect and presents Svartinge as a private club rather than a public resort facility. That distinction matters to the course’s identity: the layout was created as a complete private golf environment, not as an open-access course later converted to restricted play.
Did You Know? Svartinge is built around the idea of a complete woodland retreat close to Stockholm. Its relatively secluded setting makes the transition from city surroundings to forest landscape unusually immediate once the round begins.
