Overview: Sunrise Country Club is an 18-hole executive-plus course in Rancho Mirage, designed by Ted Robinson. The club’s current scorecard lists par 64 and 3,986 yards from the blue tees, with shorter white and gold options. It is intentionally compact rather than a conventional par-72 championship layout, but the routing still asks for disciplined placement and precise approaches. The private course is surrounded by the community’s homes and the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountain setting.
History: Sunrise grew from Bill Bone’s purchase of a 135-acre date plantation in 1971. The club’s history records construction beginning in 1974, with 746 condominiums built around an 18-hole executive golf course designed by Ted Robinson. The development became one of the early golf communities east and south of Palm Springs, and the club continues to operate through its member-owned country-club and homeowners-association structure.
Did You Know? Sunrise calls the course “executive plus,” a useful description for golfers who want a shorter round without giving up a full 18-hole sequence. Its blue card is just under 4,000 yards and the official material says a round can be completed in less than three and a half hours. The property also includes a grass driving range, short-game areas and two putting greens.
