Overview: In Scarsdale, Sunningdale Country Club presents a private 18-hole course whose architecture has passed through the hands of Seth Raynor, Walter Travis, A.W. Tillinghast, and Mike DeVries. The current black setup is par 70 and 6,820 yards, with mature parkland, shaped green complexes, and a compact suburban setting rewarding careful placement.
History: The club acquired its Scarsdale property in 1916, and Seth Raynor designed the course that opened in 1918. Walter Travis and A.W. Tillinghast later altered the layout, while Mike DeVries led a major renovation from 2006 through 2016.
Did You Know? Sunningdale's name and architecture are not a claim to be the English Sunningdale. The New York club has its own century-long design history, with Raynor's original work still forming the basis of the course.
