Overview: Summit Point Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Jr. course in Lipa, Batangas, set at roughly 1,200 feet above sea level. The portfolio record lists 7,017 yards, and current scorecard material supports par 72. Bamboo forests, coconut palms and a backdrop of green mountains give the course a strong woodland identity, while its fairways and greens are arranged as a collection of strategic holes rather than a single repeated visual theme. The elevated setting also gives the round a cooler, more open atmosphere than the lowlands.
History: Summit Point was developed as a master-planned golf and residential community, with the Robert Trent Jones II portfolio recording 2006 as its opening marker. The architect was asked to create a course that paid tribute to influential golf holes while avoiding direct copies. That brief shaped the property’s identity from the beginning, making Summit Point both a playable Lipa course and a study in how different architectural ideas can be adapted to a tropical site.
Did You Know? The course’s design references include Oakland Hills, Royal Dornoch, Pine Valley, Sotogrande and Augusta National. RTJ2 describes these as inspirations for individual holes and strategies, not replicas. The idea gives Summit Point an unusual architectural hook: a single round can move between several recognisable design traditions while remaining anchored in bamboo, palms and the mountains of Batangas.
