Overview: Summit Green Valley Chiangmai Country Club runs through 18 holes at par 72 near Mae Rim, around 20 minutes north of Chiang Mai. Dennis Griffiths designed the layout, which opened in 1990 and measures 7,202 yards from the blue tees. Hundreds of palms, scenic lakes, overlapping hills and carefully placed sand create a tropical parkland course with more strategic weight than its broad fairways first suggest. Water and bunkers narrow the effective landing areas, particularly for golfers choosing the back tees.
History: Summit Green Valley belongs to Chiang Mai’s first generation of contemporary international courses and remains part of the region’s established golf circuit. The current operator and course guides retain the 1990 opening and Griffiths design while describing a property built around golf, dining and club facilities. Its history is not dependent on a single tournament claim: the continued course operation and consistent identity are what make it a useful anchor for golf travel around Chiang Mai.
Did You Know? The ninth is the course’s signature test. The tee shot must carry water into a landing area guarded by sand, and the approach also crosses water uphill to an elevated green framed by palms. It is a compact example of Summit Green Valley’s central idea: a seemingly generous tropical corridor becomes exacting once the hazards and green angle are taken seriously.
