Overview: Sugarloaf is a spectacular and legendary championship layout that is widely considered one of the finest mountain courses in the world. Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1985, the course is famous for its routing through the rugged mountains of Carrabassett Valley, Maine. The par-72 layout features many of the most technical and strategically demanding holes in golf, including several that play directly over ocean-side bluffs and through natural wetlands. As a centerpiece of the luxury resort experience, it provides a "pure golf" environment where the crashing waves and rugged volcanic landscape are as much a part of the game as the architecture itself.
Did You Know? The course features a spectacular stretch of holes known as the "String of Pearls," which follows the contours of the Carrabassett River and is widely considered one of the most scenic sequences in golf.
