Overview: North of Bangkok, Stonehill presents an 18-hole par-72 course north of Bangkok, designed by American architect Kyle Phillips. The official course page lists 7,861 yards and presents a layout built across what was once mudland, with native fauna, more than 50 tree species and a stream influencing seven holes. Its design language borrows from traditional Scottish links and modern American shaping, but the course is distinctly Thai in its broad tropical landscape and polished hospitality setting. The length and firm, fast conditions make it a serious championship test.
History: Stonehill opened for play in July 2022 and quickly entered the international golf conversation when it hosted the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok in October of the same year. Kyle Phillips’s design was developed as a new landmark rather than a restoration of an older club course, so the early tournament association is already part of its identity. The operator describes the surrounding land, tree planting and clubhouse as part of a larger hospitality concept built around the course.
Did You Know? Stonehill’s water story is more subtle than a course dominated by lakes. The designer’s archive notes that a stream plays a strategic role on seven holes, while the club highlights the site’s native trees and fauna. The result is a course where the challenge comes from the relationship between firm ground, moving water and carefully preserved landscape rather than from a single signature hazard.
