Overview: Stonehaven Golf Course at The Resort at Glade Springs is an 18-hole mountain layout in Daniels, West Virginia, routed around both sides of 69-acre Chatham Lake. Tom Clark’s design uses the Appalachian setting directly, with forest corridors, exposed rock, changing elevation and water shaping the rhythm of the round. At 7,203 yards and par 72, the course has substantial length, but its character comes from the variety of lies and the way the holes move between lake edges, wooded ground and open slopes.
History: Stonehaven was built as one of the three championship courses at Glade Springs and opened in 2002. Clark and Ault Clark & Associates developed the course around the existing lake and forest rather than imposing a flat resort layout. The result completed a larger golf identity for the Daniels property, alongside the earlier Cobb Course and the later Woodhaven Course.
Did You Know? The course’s elevation changes can reach roughly 80 feet on individual holes, and the routing passes through stands of maple, beech, hickory and oak. Those details help explain why Stonehaven plays as a mountain course even when the lake is the most visible landmark on the scorecard.
