Overview: Stonecutters Ridge is an 18-hole public championship course in Sydney’s western hills. Greg Norman designed the layout across rolling ground at Eastern Creek, using three landscape themes, bold bunkers, water features and large shaped greens to create a course with a strong visual identity. The current official page lists 6,257 metres and par 71, or about 6,847 yards. It is Sydney’s first Greg Norman-designed public course and a useful choice for golfers looking for a substantial round outside the traditional eastern suburbs.
History: Stonecutters was developed as the golf centrepiece of a large western Sydney community. The course was planned to rank among Australia’s leading public layouts, and the design deliberately responds to the natural topography rather than hiding the site’s urban growth around it. The club now presents the course as an active public destination with practice, dining and event facilities alongside the 18 holes.
Did You Know? Stonecutters’ name points to the area’s industrial and quarry history, while the course itself uses the surrounding hills and valleys to create a very different experience from a flat municipal layout. The official description calls out three distinct landscaping themes, so the scenery changes as the round progresses.
