Overview: The Fazio Course is the championship routing at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, one of the major golf communities north of Dallas. Tom Fazio designed the layout to work with the North Texas landscape, using elevation changes, water, fairway movement and artfully placed hazards rather than relying on length alone. The club presents the course as an 18-hole, par-72 experience, with hole-by-hole tee yardages and strategy notes that show how much the preferred line changes from one tee shot to the next. A short opening par four gives way to doglegs, water decisions and undulating greens, so the course rewards players who plan the next shot before swinging.
History: The Fazio Course opened in 2000 and forms part of Stonebriar’s two-course club operation. Its design is associated with Tom Fazio, while the broader Stonebriar property is integrated with the Frisco resort and residential community. The current club materials emphasise a maintained championship course rather than a historical links identity, and the private access model remains central to the experience. The exact directory routing here is the Fazio Course, not the separate Stonebriar Country Club course.
Did You Know? The club’s hole notes repeatedly turn ordinary-looking holes into angle problems. The second, for example, uses a creek to guard the approach, while the 11th bends around water and the 16th is a short, driveable par four defended by bunkers and a two-tiered green. That variety is characteristic of the course: it can offer a birdie opportunity, but only after the player chooses which danger is worth taking on.
