Overview: Stone Canyon Golf Club in Blue Springs is the only Greg Norman Signature Design course in the Midwest. Rolling topography, stone outcrops and long views toward Kansas City give the layout a strong sense of place, while closely mown surrounds and creative bunkering provide Norman’s recognizable strategic language. The course moves through open ground and rock-lined corridors, with the natural stone used as an architectural element rather than simply a scenic backdrop. It is a modern public course with the scale and visual ambition of a championship venue.
History: Stone Canyon opened for play in 2009 and received immediate recognition as one of Golf Magazine’s best new courses golfers could play. The course was later named among Missouri’s leading public layouts, including a top-three state recognition in 2012. Its development marked an important addition to the Kansas City-area golf landscape because Norman’s design brought a distinctly rugged, rock-centered style to a region better known for rolling inland parkland.
Did You Know? The 381-yard third hole finishes in an amphitheater of natural rocks, making it the clearest single expression of Stone Canyon’s identity. The club’s current scorecard lists a 7,059-yard par 72 layout from the longest tee, while the official course story emphasizes that the rock walls and outcrops are integrated into the design. Stone Canyon is therefore defined as much by geology as by bunkers and greens.
