Overview: The Vineyard/Canyon routing at Steele Canyon Golf Club combines two nines from Jamul’s 27-hole public facility. Gary Player’s course uses canyon walls, native ground and elevation changes to create a par-70 round, with the Vineyard nine offering a gentler opening character before the Canyon nine becomes more dramatic.
History: Steele Canyon was built in 1991 and organized as three named nines, Ranch, Vineyard and Canyon. The target record is the Vineyard/Canyon combination, not the Ranch/Vineyard card. Gary Player is credited with the course, while the retained sources do not publish one stable current yardage for this exact pairing.
Did You Know? Steele Canyon’s route names describe changes in landform. Vineyard is the more subtly rolling part of the combination, while Canyon uses stronger elevation and narrower visual corridors. Reading the two names together gives a better sense of the round than using the facility name alone.
