Overview: Bukit Course is the hillier of Starhill Golf & Country Club's two 18-hole layouts near Johor Bahru. Its current course page lists par 72 and 7,135 yards, approximately 6,524 metres, with Zoysia Matrella fairways and Tifdwarf greens. Sloping ground is the course's defining physical feature, supported by ponds, fairway bunkers and green-side hazards. The blue tees provide a substantial test, while the changing lies mean that balance and club selection matter as much as distance.
History: Starhill was developed as a 36-hole golf resort, with current course references dating the facility to 1993. Bukit is kept separate from the Bintang Course, whose riverine setting and star-shaped island green create a different visual and strategic experience. Reviewed course material does not verify a separate Bukit opening date or named architect, so the shared facility date is used cautiously and the architect field remains blank. The current resort continues to publish reservations and course information.
Did You Know? The Malay word “bukit” means hill, and the name accurately describes the course's playing character. The slopes are not just a backdrop: they alter lies, sightlines and the way ponds and bunkers sit beside the fairways. Starhill's own description also points to the blue tee as a notable challenge, making Bukit a useful complement to Bintang for golfers who want two par-72 rounds at the same resort with noticeably different ground movement.
