Overview: Stanhope is a mature 18-hole Robbie Robinson course overlooking the cliffs of Covehead Bay on Prince Edward Island's north shore. Golf PEI's current comparison gives the layout a par-72 profile and 6,600 yards from the longest tees. The club describes a definite links feel, and that is the useful way to read the course: the round combines open, wind-affected ground with the established vegetation and shaped landforms of a long-running parkland property. Its appeal lies in balance rather than spectacle, with enough room for different playing styles and enough movement to reward careful positioning.
History: The course has been in play since 1970 and was designed by Robbie Robinson. Its location in the Beaches tourism area, close to the north-shore National Park beaches and within reach of Charlottetown, made it an early part of PEI's golf-travel infrastructure. The course has matured into a classic island routing whose character comes from the interaction of old trees, coastal exposure and the natural rise and fall of the ground.
Did You Know? Stanhope's strongest views open toward Covehead Bay and the north-shore landscape, but the coastal identity is also felt in the wind moving across the property. That combination is why a course that looks gentle from the fairway can ask for precise trajectory and club selection when the breeze changes direction.
