Overview: St Michael’s Golf Club is a coastal course situated in Little Bay, Sydney, adjacent to Botany Bay. Designed by Glancey and Moran (historic references cite Gladdy & Hurst) and opened in 1938, the layout is set on a windswept cliff top. The routing features narrow fairways, deep bunkers, and thick coastal scrub that demand shot-making accuracy.
History: The club was formed in 1932 as the Niblick Club before securing a permanent lease. Founders Michael Moran and others laid out the original holes using hand tools. Over the years, the course has been refined, including a recent comprehensive rebuild of all 18 green complexes to modern USGA standards.
Did You Know? Much of the course lies on land that is part of the Botany Bay National Park, meaning players regularly share the fairways with a diverse array of native bird species and local wildlife.
