Overview: The Castle Course is a modern coastal layout on Kinkell Ness east of St Andrews. Clifftop ground, broad views over the town and sea, and pronounced changes in elevation give the routing a different physical character from the older links on the flatter linksland.
History: Designed by David McLay Kidd, the Castle Course opened in 2008 as a modern addition to the St Andrews Links portfolio. The design uses the natural clifftop setting and the ravine country around Kinkell Ness as its main architectural framework.
Did You Know? The par-3 17th crosses the ravine known as the Braes of Kinkell. That single feature makes the hole a clear expression of the Castle Course's clifftop setting and its large-scale natural contours.
