Overview: Spanish Peaks Mountain Club is a private 18-hole Tom Weiskopf design in Big Sky, Montana. The course sits at roughly 7,000 ft of elevation and uses the natural mountain setting to create a sequence of open, high-country holes with views toward the surrounding peaks. Its character comes from the balance Weiskopf sought between playability and challenge: the fairways and green approaches offer room for different strategies, while the altitude, slopes and changing wind demand thoughtful club selection. The course is a strong expression of Big Sky golf without relying on manufactured spectacle.
History: The original championship course was designed by Tom Weiskopf and opened in 2007. Spanish Peaks later added Tom's 10, a separate ten-hole par-three course that became Weiskopf's final project before his death in 2022. The club's account explains that Weiskopf designed the new short course in collaboration with Phil Smith Designs, while the original 18-hole course remains the principal championship layout. That distinction matters because the property now contains two Weiskopf-related golf experiences with different scales and purposes.
Did You Know? Tom's 10 pays tribute to ten favourite par-three holes from around the world, including examples associated with Pebble Beach, Loch Lomond, Royal Troon and Augusta National. Spanish Peaks therefore preserves a small architectural anthology alongside its full-length mountain course.
