Overview: South Muskoka is an 18-hole Robbie Robinson course in downtown Bracebridge, where tree-lined fairways, granite outcroppings and rolling terrain create a classic cottage-country round. The course measures 6,340 yards from the tips and plays to par 72. Its scale is manageable, but the land is not flat or passive: frequent elevation changes, mature trees and the exposed granite of Muskoka make position important from the first tee. The course is a useful reminder that a destination round does not need resort-size acreage to have a strong sense of place.
History: Construction began with a first nine in 1974, and the second nine followed five years later to complete the current 18-hole course. Canadian Golf Hall of Fame member Clinton E. “Robbie” Robinson designed the layout, which has since become part of Bracebridge's established golf identity. The club combines golf with curling and a clubhouse operation, and its official history notes that the Globe and Mail recognised it as one of Canada's under-appreciated golf gems.
Did You Know? South Muskoka sits in the middle of downtown Bracebridge but still carries the visual language of the wider region. Granite outcrops and mature trees appear inside the course boundary, making the transition from town street to Muskoka landscape unusually immediate.
