Overview: South Cape Owners Club is an 18-hole coastal course on Namhae Island in South Gyeongsang. Kyle Phillips used the peninsula's rias coastline, central high ground and views across the sea to create a routing with both elevation and changing lines of play. The course has a links influence without being a flat traditional links, and its fairways, rocky edges and sea-facing holes make the shape of the land part of the strategy.
History: South Cape opened in 2013 as the golf centerpiece of a private resort community created by Jae Bong Chung. The American Society of Golf Course Architects records Phillips as the designer and describes the course as a project that opened on the coastline of Namhae Island. From the championship tees, the course is listed at 7,313 yards and par 72.
Did You Know? South Cape's official course description highlights two short holes that appear to float among the sea and islands. It also describes the 14th and 16th as island-like holes, a reminder that the course's most memorable features come from its coastal setting rather than from manufactured water hazards alone.
