Overview: Located in Rena, Norway, Sorknes Golfklubb is a highly regarded 18-hole woodland and parkland course designed by Peter Nordwall. Winding through dense, mature pine forests and along the Glomma River valley, the layout features tight, tree-lined fairways, subtle elevation changes, and small, well-defended putting surfaces. The course demands precise ball placement off the tee and disciplined iron play to navigate the narrow forest corridors and numerous natural streams.
History: Opened in 1992, the course was built to establish a premier competitive venue in Hedmark County. The layout was carefully integrated into the sandy river soil, ensuring excellent natural drainage that allows the course to remain playable year-round, except during periods of heavy frost or snow. The club has hosted multiple Norwegian national championships.
Did You Know? The course is built on a massive, natural sandy subsoil that ensures excellent drainage, allowing the fairways to remain firm and playable, providing a high-quality, links-like firmness despite the dense surrounding forest canopy.
