Overview: Located near Sorø in the Zealand region of Denmark, Sorø Golfklub is a highly scenic 18-hole woodland and parkland course. Set in a gently rolling, mature agricultural landscape, the layout features tight fairways bordered by dense beech forests, subtle elevation changes, and small, well-defended putting surfaces. The course demands precise ball placement off the tee to navigate the narrow forest corridors and numerous natural streams.
History: Founded in the late 1980s, the course was built to bring high-quality competitive golf to the Sorø municipality. The layout was carefully integrated into the existing historic landscape, minimizing earth movement to preserve the surrounding ancient woodlands and providing a high-quality, accessible venue for the local community.
Did You Know? The course is built immediately adjacent to the historic Sorø Academy, one of the oldest and most prestigious boarding schools in Denmark, which was originally founded as a massive Cistercian monastery in the 12th century.
