Overview: Situated directly on the North Sea coast near Stavanger, Norway, Solastranden Golfklubb is an 18-hole coastal links course designed by Svein Drange Olsnes. The layout plays over a flat, sandy coastal plain, featuring open, treeless fairways framed by native beach grasses, deep pot bunkers, and firm, fast putting surfaces. The course is heavily battered by powerful North Sea gales, demanding immense discipline, low ball flights, and a traditional ground-game approach.
History: Opened in 2001 to complement the nearby Sola parkland course, Solastranden was built on historic coastal land that was once used for agriculture and coastal defense. Olsnes crafted an authentic links experience that quickly earned a reputation as one of Norway's most demanding coastal tests, frequently hosting national amateur and professional events.
Did You Know? The course is built immediately adjacent to historic World War II concrete bunkers and coastal fortifications. Several of these massive concrete structures have been preserved and now serve as unique, grass-capped architectural features directly along the fairways.
