Overview: Soderby’s 18-hole course is a park and meadow layout outside Uppsala, designed to use the broad Swedish landscape rather than force every hole into dense woodland. The course has a par of 73 and enough length from the back markers to reward a confident tee game, but the most interesting decisions come from positioning for the next shot. Open ground, trees, water and shaped greens create a varied sequence, with the long par fours and par fives providing room for strategy as well as power. It is a substantial course that still gives the player visual clarity.
History: The 18-hole Soderby course was inaugurated in 2004. Sources associated with the course identify Jonas Ekström, Rune Löfgren and Johan Benestam with its design and development. The layout belongs to the modern expansion of GolfUppsala, a facility that brings several distinct courses together close to the city.
Did You Know? The course’s par-73 scorecard includes an extra par five compared with the standard par-72 model. That small numerical difference changes the rhythm of the round and gives the closing scorecard its own identity.
