Overview: Skellefteå’s Blå-Röd course is an 18-hole combination drawn from a 27-hole facility at Rönnbäcken. The loop moves through northern woodland and open ground, with the Rönnbäcken stream appearing as a natural strategic feature on several holes. Fairways are framed by forest, but the layout is not claustrophobic, and the changing nine-hole combinations give the facility a flexible identity. The par-72 scorecard rewards a good balance between tee accuracy and approach control, especially when the long northern daylight makes a full day on the course possible.
History: Skellefteå Golfklubb was formed in 1967. The first rounds at Rönnbäcken were played on six provisional holes in 1969, the first nine were officially inaugurated in 1971, and 18 holes became available in 1977. A further nine opened in 1993, creating the three-loop facility from which the Blå-Röd combination is drawn. Top100GolfCourses identifies Nils Sköld and Bo Karlsson with the course history.
Did You Know? Skellefteå’s three nine-hole loops can be combined in different ways during the season. The named Blå-Röd scorecard is therefore a specific current combination inside a larger 27-hole golf facility.
