Overview: Located in Västergötland, Sweden, the Södra Banan (South Course) at Skövde Golfklubb is a classic 18-hole parkland course designed by Nils Sköld and later refined by Peter Nordwall. The layout is routed across a gently rolling landscape, featuring mature oak and birch tree corridors, strategic water hazards, and subtly contoured green complexes. The course is known for its excellent playability, demanding accurate tee shots to avoid the mature trees while rewarding smart, tactical course management.
History: Skövde Golfklubb was founded in 1933, making it one of the older clubs in the region. The Södra Banan was expanded and modernized over the decades to serve as a reliable championship venue. The course has a strong competitive history, frequently hosting national amateur championships and regional professional tournaments on the Swedish Golf Tour.
Did You Know? The course is built on historic agricultural land that has been farmed for centuries, and players can observe ancient stone walls and historic agricultural markers that have been carefully preserved and integrated into the course routing.
