Overview: Sirocco Golf Club occupies an 18-hole route in the Pine Creek Valley south-west of Calgary, set across a broad property that the club describes as 940 acres of family-owned land. William “Bill” Robinson’s design uses the valley setting to give the course a spacious, natural feel, with changes in elevation and the surrounding foothills influencing both the sightlines and the way holes are approached. The official site lists a par of 72 and 7,185 yards from the longest tees. That combination gives Sirocco championship scale, while the generous landscape leaves room for different lines and a changing rhythm from hole to hole.
History: Sirocco opened on May 1, 2005, after the course was developed on land in the Pine Creek Valley. The club’s early story is closely tied to the Robinson design and to the decision to preserve the character of the large family property instead of treating it as a blank development site. An 18,000-square-foot clubhouse was added in 2008, completing a larger home for the course and its golf operation. Sirocco has since established itself as one of the Calgary area’s notable foothills layouts, balancing a modern championship course with the open setting that gave the project its name and personality.
Did You Know? The course occupies part of a 940-acre family property in the Pine Creek Valley. That scale is unusual so close to Calgary and helps explain why Sirocco can combine long views, broad corridors and natural elevation changes without feeling squeezed into a suburban grid.
