Overview: Silvertip is an 18-hole mountain course above Canmore, with Les Furber’s design using substantial elevation change to shape the round. Fairways descend through evergreen slopes toward greens framed by the Three Sisters and the surrounding Rockies. The course offers several tee options, from about 5,100 to 7,200 yards, and the choice of starting point changes the scale of the elevation challenge as well as the distance.
History: Silvertip was built in 1997 as a mountain course designed by Les Furber. Its 18 holes are routed across high ground above Canmore, where the natural slope is a central part of the design. The resort’s course information describes approximately 600 feet of elevation change, and the par-72 scorecard gives golfers a full championship option alongside shorter tees.
Did You Know? The 13th hole is known for its downhill tee shot, dropping more than 100 feet toward a green set against the mountain landscape. That dramatic change of level is a concentrated example of the course’s larger design idea: the terrain is not simply a backdrop, but an active part of club selection and the line of play. The Three Sisters remain visible beyond the fairway.
